Description
The COLT GAU-5A Lightning Series is a gas blowback airsoft rifle that replicates the USAF’s Vietnam-era carbine variant under official licence. It is produced through a collaboration between COLT, EMG and CYMA, and is built on the CYMA Gas System (CGS) platform. That platform is made for cross-compatibility with the Tokyo Marui MWS ZET System architecture.
The upper receiver uses the slick-side layout, with an integrated carry handle and no forward assist or shell deflector. The front end pairs an elongated XM177-style moderator flash hider with slim cylindrical handguards, while the stock is a vintage-profile two-position telescoping metal design. Inside, a heavy-duty steel fire control group and high-efficiency loading components are used to counter pressure drop and rapid thermal cooling during long firing strings.
