Tamiya 1/16 Russian Heavy RC Tank KV-2 Gigant

Following the popularity of the 1/16 R/C Russian KV-1 tank, Tamiya has produced the 1/16 R/C KV-2 tank.
The KV-2 started going into mass production in November 1940.
The KV-2 tank was one of several Soviet tanks with Kilment Voroshilov’s name as the designation.
To accommodate its 3.25m-tall turret, 24-caliber 1938/40 152mm M-10 howitzer, and ammunition, the KV-2’s massive size was required.
This tank could carry 36 shells total, including an armor-piercing shell designed specifically to assault concrete pillboxes.
The German 6th Panzer Division confronted the KV tanks in Lithuania on June 24th, 1941.
The 75mm thick armour and enormous bulk of the KV made it challenging for the German troops to get past it.
Due to their immense size, German soldiers referred to the KV tanks as “Ungeheuer” (monster) and “Gigant” (giant).

Key Features

The 1/16 model R/C construction kit of the Russian heavy tank KV-2, which terrorised German forces during World War II, has been proudly released by Tamiya’s Russian Moving Fortress. The KV-2’s rectangular turret’s dynamic shape has been faithfully recreated, and accessories like the tow cables and tool boxes draw attention to the exterior’s exquisite details. To ensure high durability, the chassis also includes a lot of metal elements. The tank has realistic barrel and hull recoil actions when firing the main gun in addition to forward/reverse running and left/right turning. In addition to having a muzzle flash effect and shooting sounds, the front machine gun also has controllable headlights and taillights.  You may even stage mock fights against other Tamiya R/C tanks that are similarly outfitted if you add the separately available Battle System.

Realistic Mobility
Type 380 motors are used in the rear-mounted, pre-assembled gearbox to provide lots of power. Durability is ensured by metal components such the lower hull, suspension arms, and drive sprockets. The suspension, which uses metal torsion bars and pre-assembled resin tracks to absorb terrain undulations, is identical to that on an authentic KV-2. A specific low-speed setting on the DMD Control Unit T-08 also allows for sluggish lumbering movements for even more lifelike performance.

Realistic Main Gun
The onboard speaker roars during main gun firing, the barrel-mounted LED flashes, the turret recoil unit and motor gearbox work together to provide realistic barrel and hull recoil movement.

The barrel of the rifle can be elevated by 24 degrees and depressed by 4 degrees. To move the gun, move control stick 2 forward or backward.
The turret can rotate completely around. To rotate, move control stick 1 left or right. Stick movement controls the rotational speed.
Features pre-assembled resin tracks and metal torsion bars to simulate the tank’s authentic lumbering motion.

When firing, the onboard speaker roars and the barrel-mounted LED flashes. Additionally, accurate barrel and hull recoil movement is replicated.
Additionally, there is a muzzle flash effect and firing sounds on the front 7.62mm machine gun.
The headlight can be turned on and off using the transmitter input.

About the KV-2
During the Winter War in 1939, the Russian KV-2 heavy tank was created to destroy Finnish defences at the Mannerheim line. Its enormous rectangular turret, which was attached to the KV-1’s hull, had a 152mm howitzer that could fire a variety of projectiles, including special armor-piercing shells designed to take out concrete pillboxes. In a well-known incident, a single KV-2 stopped the German advance for several days when they were deployed in the summer of 1941 to oppose the German invasion of Russia. German soldiers revered the KV-2 by referring to it as “Gigant (giant)” out of admiration.
